Nine Self Reflection Questions That Will Change Your Life

Do you ever stop for a little self-reflection? You can learn a lot by stopping for a few minutes and asking yourself these questions. If we don’t take the time to self-reflect, how do we know if things are going well or not? The questions you ask yourself (or fail to ask) can change the course of your life!

Consider your answers to these questions:

  • What can I do to enhance my most important relationships?
    • Your relationship with yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have.
    • Robney A. Winters believes, “Talking opening and honestly about relationships is a key to helping improve relationships and maintaining healthy ones”.
    • Brigitte Nicole said, “You’ll know when a relationship is right for you.  It will enhance your life, not complicate your life”.
  • What are the most important things I need to accomplish today? tomorrow? This week? This month? This year? Before I can retire?
    • As Benjamin Franklin said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”.
    • Put some thought into your plans.  Write down your plans/goals and refer to them often.
    • Yogi Berra put it best, “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else”.
  • Which activities and people are a waste of my time?
    • Bruce Lee said, “If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of”.
    • Your mantra should be: “I will not have anyone’s half time, down time, spare time, or sometimes, so don’t waste my time.”
  • Did I learn from the mistakes I made today?  Will I do better tomorrow?
    • “The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing,” John Powell.
    • Albert Einstein said, “Insanity, doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results”.
    • Old ways won’t open new doors.
  • What successes can I celebrate today?
    • Ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
    • The key to success is to focus on goals, not obstacles.
    • Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you.
  • What is the impact or difference I want to make?
    • Paulo Coelho said, “The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.”
    • Another mantra, “You may see me struggle but you’ll never see me quit”.
  • What are my core values or beliefs, and am I living them?
    • Stephen Covey said, “I begin each day with the blueprint of my deepest values firmly in mind then when challenges come, make decisions based on those values”.
    • “Our self-respect tracks our choices.  Every time we act in harmony with our authentic self and our heart, we earn our respect.  It is that simple.  Every choice matters,” said Dan Coppersmith.
  • What are my weaknesses that I need to watch our fo?
    • If you can’t change a situation, change your perception of it.  That’s where your personal power is.  Either be in control, or be controlled.
    • If you expect someone else to be perfect, you have to be perfect yourself.  And some who expects perfection has the biggest flaw of all.
    • Everyone has their flaws, but the one who tries to fix them succeeds in life while the one that does nothing falls down.
  • Who and what am I grateful for?
    • “The vibration of gratitude attracts more positive things into your life,” said Cherie Roe Dirksen.
    • Robert Brault said, “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things”.
    • It’s not happiness that brings us gratitude.  It’s gratitude that brings us happiness.

Some of these questions are a little tough! But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t tackle them. Some of your answers might be all you need to steer your life in a new direction.  Take action on your answers.  You’ll be glad you did!
