I hadn’t really been paying attention to the hype surrounding tart cherry juice. But then the husband came down with a bout of gout (you like that rhyme ?). We are both somewhat believers in homeo-pathic options as it relates to health. God put a lot of good plants on this planet for a reason. So we began our research and one of the first things to show up on our search was the benefits of tart cherry juice. And I mean big time folks talking about it. Dr Oz on the healthtipswebsite.com as well as livestrong.com and Healthline…all talking about the benefits. #tartcherry
It’s an amazing product and not just for gout….below are some of the benefits according to Healthline/livestrong.com:
- Rich in Nutrients/Antioxidants
- May Increase Strength and Reduce Muscle Soreness/Aid in Sports Recovery
- Could help you sleep better
- May reduce symptoms of Arthritis and Gout
- Might promote brain health
- May strengthen the immune system
- May protect against cancer
- Might reduce pain/functions as an anti inflammatory/reduce swelling
- May reduce blood pressure/linked to better heart health
- Could help you lose weight
It does require consistent daily use to start seeing the benefits, but in about 7-10 days after starting you could start reaping the rewards. As is always the case, before you start consuming large quantities of anything, check with your doctor or pharmacist about any interactions with medications.
Tart cherry juice can be found in lots of stores and online and it doesn’t take much to start your routine. However, always read the labels. You need to look at calories and sugar content, etc. as there is a wide range between brands. Make sure you are getting the best for you personally. There are even “powdered” supplements available as well as a capsule form. I can’t vouch for those as my husband and I have chosen the traditional juice as our way of ingesting tart cherry. We use a concentrated version and mix with water, 8 ounces a day a couple of hours before bedtime. Admitedly, it tastes better cold as well.
Below is one of the versions we have tried (keep in mind I may receive a commission when you click my link and make purchases. It will not affect what you pay. However, this does not impact my review. I will only recommend products used by myself or my family):
This is another one of those ideas that many have read about/heard of but not talked about. Sports players all over the world use this as part of their routine in order to speed up recovery after workouts and games, doctors tell patients to give it a try as it relates to many of the benefits. So again I thought might as well give it a shot. My husband now swears by it and I’m a believer as well. By the way, most tart cherries are grown in Michigan, followed by Utah, New York and Washington. I would always recommend buying a product like this to be grown in the USA.
